Mackenzie walked the snow fields wearing her usual t-shirt and jeans.  She knew she was being foolish and she would probably end up sick but at the time she didn't really care.  All she wanted was to forget.  To forget how she hadn't been able to save her stepmother, Aunt and cousin.  She had been to slow and they had died in the attack.  The cold took her mind off her pain even if it was only for a moment.  Soon enough she knew she would remember.  She wished she knew more, that she had been able to help save them but they had all been to slow and she knew her father and uncle wanted to take the blame to.  She sat down in the snow as she tried to work up out where she had gone wrong in her attempts.  She didn't even realise she was crying until tears froze on her face.

Madeleine walked into the snow fields wrapped in a nice big jumper holding another one in her hand. She had heard what had happened to Mackenzie's family and knew that she would be going through a tough time so she came to find her. Spotting her she walked over and pulled her up wrapping her arms and the jacket around her. "Ohh darl, I'm so sorry." She tells her holding her tightly the girl was practically frozen, she steered her towards the exit wanting to get her heated up so she didn't get a cold but she wasn't sure how successful she would be but her not being frozen to a popsical would be a win at the moment.

Mackenzie relaxed in the hug, shrugged into the jacket and walked with Madeleine until she realised they where walking towards the exit. She pulled away and moved to sit on one of the benches that where around the place. She summoned a fire ball to sit in front of them. "I'm sorry. I just can't stop thinking about it. I was to slow to help them", she replied, looking at the ground as she spoke. She felt useless since what had happened but she didn't want to admit that. She knew she would have to work on all her fighting skills so she didn't fail those she loved again.

"Ohh Mack, you can't blame yourself there was nothing you could have done even if you had been faster. It's just one of those things that happen. It was a miracle that your family made it that long without someone dying apart from your biological mother of course but 6 demigods living for 10 years without someone dying is a miracle, I'm not trying to be man it's horrible what happened but the odds were against you and as sad as I am about what you are going through I am so happy that you didn't die with them because it would have killed me." She tells her talking softly towards the end hoping that Mackenzie didn't take it the wrong way.

Mackenzie sighed, she knew it was true. She tried to ignore the tears that where running down her cheeks. "Your right but I just feel like I should have been able to do something. My grandfather is Mars and fighting has sorta become most of my life, at least until now", she replied. It took a moment for her to register what Madeleine had said. She stood and hugged her, "I am glad I am still here too, if it helps", she continued. She bit her lip softly before continuing hoping she wasn't making a mistake, "I love you". The words where barely a whisper as Mackenzie hid he face in Madeleine's jacket.

Madeleine held her tighter a smile forming on her face unable to believe that Mackenzie had said it first, she had wanted to say it first but like usual Mack beat her to the punch. "I love you too." She tells her, stroking her hair. "Come on lets go to my home. It'll be warmer and I don't want you to catch your death of the cold here. That way I can also get you into my bed." She teases softly wanting to lift the mood but hoped that she didn't upset Mack by making her think that she was making light of her pain or her admission of love but she wanted to help her feel better. "Come on." She said before disappearing both of them to her room accidentally landing on the bed. She smiled, keeping her arms wrapped around Mack not wanting to let her go after her admission.

Mackenzie felt a small cross her face ant Madelines reply and looked up at her. She nodded softly in reply to them leaving, knowing she probably didn't have much say in the matter anyway. When they landed on the bed, Mackenzie could help the slight laugh that came out. "Well that didn't take long", she replied cheekily. It was then that her body registered the change in temperature and she realised just how cold she had become in the snow fields without proper clothing. She snuggled closer to Madeliene. "Thank you", she muttered. "For caring and for stopping me from freezing to badly in that pit of snow" she conitnued. She felt safer then she had since the attack being then in her arms and as her guard went down she had to fight the yawns. She had barely slept since what happened, to wound up over everything and at times due to the dreams.

"It's fine Mack, just rest I'm sure you haven't slept since it happened but I'm here now and I won't let anything at all happen to you okay?" She tells her stroking her hair before covering her with a blanket to help warm her. "I would never have let you freeze." She tells her kissing her kissing her forehead before leaning back and closing her eyes she knew that Mack would only sleep if she was near so she decided to have a nap while Mack was sleeping so that she wasn't tired when Mackenzie woke. "Sleep, I promise nothing will get you."

Mackenzie nodded, "Thank you Mads", was the reply before the girls breathing evened out and she slipped into sleep.

Mackenzie woke a few hours later and blinked the sleep from her eyes as she tried to work out where she was. It took her a moment to remember Madeleine bringing her to her home and falling asleep beside her. She could still feel the goddess's arm around her and a smile crossed her face for the first time in days. She shifted to look at Madeleine, wondering if the goddess was awake or if when she would wake. A small smirk crossed her face a Kenzie shifted to kiss her.

Madeleline had woken when Mackenzie's breathing changed and her body tensed as she woke. Madeline kept her eyes closed wanting to see what Mackenzie did. She couldn't help a slight smile coming to her lips as Mack moved as she presumed to kiss her. Unable to help herself she opened her eyes and leaned forward capturing Mackenzie's lips in a kiss before Mack had the chance to kiss her. She leisurely explored Mack's mouth before pulling back. "Good morning are you feeling better this morning?" She asked cupping Mack's face with her hands her thumb brushing the line of her cheekbone as she waited for Mack to answer her question.

Mackenzie was surprised by the kiss but responded back in kind. She lay back down, facing Madeleine as she seemed to ponder the question for a moment. "Well I think it depends on if I get another one of those amazing kisses if I say no", she replied cheekily. She was of course still upset about everything but with a good nights sleep and being with Madeleine she was feeling at least a little better. Things weren't as over bearing as they where before. The only thing now was keeping her father from knowing she was with a goddess. Something told her her father would like her being in any sort of relationship.

Madeleine smiled softly leaning down and kissing her again before pulling back and watching her for a few moments, she could watch her all day. "I'll give you a kiss whenever you want me to." She tells her with a soft smile stroking her hair. "What do you think you want to do today? Anything in particular or did you just want to hang out here and watch movies and chill?" She asked either way she would be happy just to spend some time with Mackenzie getting to know her better. She ran her hand through Mack's hair as she waited for her answer.

Mackenzie smiled at her when the kiss broke. "I like the sound of that", she replied, one hand rising to rest of Madeleine's cheek. Mackenzie on the question for a moment. She knew she should probably go back to camp in case her father was looking for her but she really didn't want to face the sympathy from any of her aunt's or uncles and she knew she wouldn't be able to dodge all of them. "I like the idea of just staying here. I don't really want to face anyone else yet", she replied. She would make it up to her father later. She just hoped he would understand.

"Yeah we can just stay here." Madeleine says with a smile, moving up and pressing her hand over hers. "So what did you wanna do here today? Just watch movies or we could just lay in bed all say talking. It's up to you really." She was glad that Mack wanted to stay with her even if it was to avoid seeing other people. She felt her heart thumping in her chest, she felt so happy, it was strange she never really thought that she would fall or at least like someone as much as she liked Mack. She usually kept her feelings away from her love affairs.

Mackenzie frowned slightly in thought for a moment. She wanted to spend time with Madeleine but she also didn't just want to sit all day either. She had always liked action and rarely sat still for a whole day. "Well a movie doesn't sound to bad but we could also go bowling or something out side of camp?", she asked hopefully. "We can talk and get to know each other more while we are at it to", she continued to try and sweeten the deal. She knew her father wouldn't like her leaving the safety of their world but she was a granddaughter of THE god of war and she would also be with another war goddess. Surely they could handle anything that came at them.
