Declan had simply wanted to get something nice for Vivian. How he had ended up facing off a gorgon and 2 Hell hounds, he wasn't 100% sure. Of course he recognised the gorgon as the girl he had pick pocketed to get the money for his so called present (his first mistake). Who knew that gorgon's could hide so easy among every people. He was starting to wonder just how many monsters he had walked by in the past. He obviously hadn't really had their attention before but he certainly did now.
He tried to keep the sword he had borrowed....okay fine he had stolen, from the camp. He had no clue how to use it but he had hoped it would be enough to scare any non mortal away from him. Apparently that had failed him. “Wh-What do you want?”, he tried to sound confident but the stutter at the start certainly didn't help that. He looked past the hell hounds to where mortals walked past the small alley he had tried to hide in (his second mistake). He wondered how they could possibly miss the two gigantic dogs that seemed to shimmer with the flames inside them. Let alone the gorgon complete with tusks at the corners of her mouth and the snakes that served as hair. She wasn't pleasant to look at but he was rather thankful though that her eyes at least hadn't turned him to stone. Of course he had been told about the mist but he still couldn't see how the mortal's couldn't see what was going on.
A voice from behind him made him jump. “Please. We can tell that you can't use that thing by the way you stand. Lets stop playing games son of Maddox.”
Declan was quick to turn and place his back against the wall that had been beside him. He tried to glance back and keep the hell hounds and Gorgon in view, but unfortunately who ever had spoke, was hidden to well in the shadows. He made no move to drop the sword, hoping that the fighting would come as natural for him as it was meant to. Though he had his doubts with his father being who he was.
“You'd rather play?”, the voice spoke again and it sent a chill over Declan that made him shift his hands on the sword. “Then lets play.” Movement from the Gorgan made Declan turn back to it. Their was a gleam in its eyes as it started to move towards him. Declan dropped the sword. “Okay, Okay. I give up. What do you want?” Figuring the voice would have attacked by now if it was going to, Declan kept his eyes on the Gorgon. This was his third mistake.
“To make the gods pay”, the voice responded. It took Declan to long to realise that the voice had grown closer and before he could even turn to look, something hit the back of his head and the world went black.
Declan woke in what looked like a cave, his body from the awkward position that his body had landed in. He figured they must have chucked him in and left it at that. He stood and looked around the small dark area. His eyes picking out the wooden door as they began to adjust to the lack of light. He moved towards it and tried to open it. He wasn't surprised when he found it locked. He stretched to try and ease his muscles before sitting with his back against the wall. He faced the door, which was the only way into the room that he had been able to see. He figured that if he was at least watching the door he would see if anyone came in.
