Dakota walked into Gale's room silently looking down at him as he slept curled around his favorite toy. He had had a horrible nightmare and couldn't go back to sleep until he had seen for himself that Gale was alright. He reached out slowly brushing a curl away from his face before fixing his sheet and leaning down before kissing him on the forehead, turning away he headed back towards the door hoping to that he hadn't woken him up. He was unable to stop himself turning around and watching Gale for a few more moments before he turned back around ready to head back to his own room.

Gale awake to feel a kiss on his forehead, he opened his eyes slowly fighting sleep and saw Dakota. He had been in the starts of a nightmare when the feeling had awoken him. He watched Dakota for a moment before deciding he didn't want him to leave. He sat up slowly in the bed, rubbing his eyes, "Dakota?", he asked, almost chickening out of asking him to stay. He wanted to be strong and didn't want to admit he was scared. He almost hoped that Dakota wouldn't hear him. He had already turned to leave the room after all and if he left Gale wouldn't have to admit he wanted him to stay.

Dakota turned around at the sounds of Gale's voice he mentally berated himself for waking Gale, it wasn't his intention to interrupt his sleep and now he felt guilty doing so just because he couldn't sleep doesn't mean that he should have woken Gale up. "Hey, sorry to wake you." He tells him, moving closer slowly and silently, kneeling near his bed he looked at him worriedly, running a hand through Gale's hair it was damp like he had been sweating. "Are you okay?" He asked worried about him what if he was getting a cold or if something else was wrong with him.

Gale watched Dakota, he was glad when he walked back into the room but he didn't want to say it. Gale shrugged at the apology but didn't want to admit why he didn't care. Gale had to admit to himself that he felt better with Dakota in the room, it reminded him that it had just been a dream. He winced inwardly when Dakota ran a hand through his sweaty hair and tried to put on a brave face when he was asked if he was okay. "Yes", he replied, but his voice sounded weak even to him and he shook his head, not trusting himself to speak again. He drew his knees up to his chest and wrapped his arms around them. "Bad dreams", he replied, before Dakota could ask him.

"Scoot over." He tells him, nudging him gently before hopping into the bed and wrapping his arms around Gale and holding him close, settling them both down to go to sleep again knowing that if he went back to his room he wouldn't sleep and if he left Gale would probably have another nightmare and he couldn't do that to him. "I'm here, I won't let the dreams come back, I'll protect you from any enemy in real life or in your dreams." He says seriously, hoping that it would help him sleep. "Go back to sleep I'm here, I'm not leaving."

Gale shifted over on the bed, a small smile crossing his face when Dakota held him close. He trusted the older boy and was glad he would stay with him. Gale always felt safe when he was with him, like no one could hurt him and didn't need to hear him say it. "I always feel safe with you Kota", he replied with a yawn, snuggling in against him. "Thank you Kota", he mumbled softly, before drifting back to a dreamless sleep, comfortable that he was safe with the older boy beside him. The feeling of safety helping him sleep peacefully.

Dakota watched Gale sleep, running his hands slowly and gently through Gail's hair till his own eye lids grew too heavy and he drifted off into a dreamless sleep for the first time the night. He was so glad that he was able to help Gale sleep it made him feel warm inside, he didn't understand the feeling but it made him feel really good. He slipped into a good dream, one of them playing together alone. He was smiling all through the night with the good dreams that he was having with Gale as a main star and luckily he had no nightmares.
