Unlike Jupiter’s other children, Proserpina has no position at Olympus. Proserpina used to live far away from the other deities, a goddess within Nature herself before the days of planting seeds and nurturing plants. When Proserpina reached marriageable age, the gods Mercury, Mars, Apollo, and Vulcan had all wooed her, but Ceres rejected all their gifts and hid her daughter away from the company of the Olympian. Pluto, in looking for a wife, kidnapped her and made her his queen of the underworld.
